This very famous poster designed in 1910 by Gantner for the absinthe ban in Switzerland, shows a triumphant prohibitionist, dressed as a priest, trampling on the murdered Green Fairy, while in the background Helvetia mourns her lost liberties. The blue cross was at the time the symbol of the powerful temperance movement, a movement against alcohol consumption.
