Absinthe Ban in France II (Vive la France !) Poster - Canvas Print
Less known than Gantner's poster for the prohibition of absinthe in Switzerland, this lithograph lamenting the final prohibition of absinthe in France 5 years later, by ministerial decree of 7th January 1915, is just as spectacular. In the centre, trampling the mortally wounded Green Fairy, is Raymond Poincairé, President of the French Republic, while in the background French troops are shown engaged in the first terrible battles of the Great War. The white ribbon at the bottom "Les Habitués d" is left blank to allow the name of the bar or café that purchased the poster to be added. For printing our posters, we have chosen a professional specialized in billboards and advertising mediums, so that we would obtain the best possible rendering. So the canvas used is a Jetex 300g (10.6oz) tissue, entirely ecological, and anti-curling (allowing the poster to retrieve its flatness once you get it out of the parcel). Opposite is a close-up picture showing the wonderful texture of the Jetex tissue.
