Absinthe Blandine 65% - 0,5l
The Blandine absinthe is distilled after a long lasting family tradition, and is an ‚Hommage‘ to all clandestine distillers in the Swiss Val-de-Travers that were impacted by the pastis rivalry in the 60's. They had to change their recipes to adapt to the changing palates, so they added a bit of star anise, a bit of liquorice, and removed the coloration step entirely. The "Bleue" was born, a much sweeter and less bitter absinthe. It was immediately successful and the battle against the pastis was over in the Val-de-Travers.
The Blandine absinthe used to be a "French" version of the DuVallon Blanche absinthe. Its recipe had to be adjusted in the past, in order to comply with a French legislation that limited the amount of fennel allowed in absinthe. However, this particular law was tossed in 2010, and Mr. DuVallon has been distilling his Blandine with more fennel.
Its higher proof, compared to other traditional "Bleues" from Switzerland, paired with a strong fennel profile give the Blandine a particularly impressive profile.

Monsieur DuVallon, as he is nicknamed by the absinthe community, is a Switzerland-based absinthe distiller from the Val-de-Travers. His great aunt was Ms La Malotte, one of the most famous clandestine absinthe distillers in Switzerland while the absinthe ban. She used to distil clandestine absinthe and trade it for beet root alcohol. Her aim was to prevent absinthe from extinction and we believe that she taught Mr DuVallon the art of absinthe distilling. DuVallon used to be a photographer and journalist. Today, in his 60s, he focuses on distilling absinthe.
