Elegant, handmade glass and cast brass. Read the whole description
We recommend rinsing your fountain before first using it, as there may be traces of powder left from the traditional metal-casting process.
Ice can be added to the water in the reservoir, to create the perfect temperature.
Rather than emptying the fountain straight after using it, it is recommended to leave it overnight, avoiding any small risk, however rare, of thermal shock to the glass parts.
Contrary to what one might assume, absinthe fountains actually arrived very late in its history, carafes having been used before. It is thought that they were introduced by the absinthe-makers Cusenier in 1886, trying to give absinthe a healthy image. Water at the time was not the best quality, and so the fountains also contained a filter to remove impurities.

I bought the Artemisia mini 2-tap-fountain a while back. It's very beautiful, easy to set up and with a sturdy construction. When I set it up I noticed that my taps were welded a little uneven which gives an altogether unbalanced appearance if you look closely. I also noticed a lot of small uneaventies in the glass, like scratches and tiny bubbles (I didn't buy a 2nd rated product). It also lacks a protective plate at the base and stands directly on sharp brass edges. So as this piece is quite heavy it will easily leave marks on the surface you put it on. However, I decided to keep my piece and not send it back.
It holds water fine and doesn't leak. The taps works fine. However, the metal ring that is at the top of the glass-bottle isn't perfectly sealed. This is only troublesome when you wash your piece as water and soap can be left inside the ring if you are not careful. It can then leave a bad taste if not removed.
The fountain is apparantly ONLY made for pouring water and can not be used to keep any strong beverages like an ordinary glass fountain for bowl-drinks, whisky and such. The white material in the bottom, used to seal the glass-container, will leave a terrible taste if you fill up your fountain with any alcohol or water containing acids from lemons or limes. I think this should be more clear in the decryption of the product as I imagine a lot of customers might like to use the fountain for stronger liquids than water from time to time.
Overall a beautiful piece that works perfectly dripping water into your glass of absinthe. But not top craftsmanship and somewhat difficult to clean. Works for water only.

Oh I love this Fountain - and my friend too. I was so impressed of its sturdy but elegant appearance and it has served us well.
However – recently I noticed the sad fact that a vertical crack from top to bottom has appeared in the glass-container. I am sure that it has not been knocked or dropped, and I have sure been treating it soft and nicely. So it must be that it is simply the fact of ice-water inside and party atmosphere outside the glass that has caused too much tension. Or if there was some tension built in the fitting of the glass.
It is still possible to use the fountain. But it doesn't look so nice as it did. Is it possible to obtain a spare glass? And in that case, how tricky would it be to change it?
All the Best! Hans

My son and I just went on a short 'Hemmingwayesque' trip to Paris, following all his old haunts etc. and went to La Fee Verte restaurant where they serve absinthe in the authentic way. It was such a great ritual and experience, I couldn't resist buying him this (well a whole kit really) and he loves it! Came very well packaged and exceeded my expectations.

This fountain I bought is absolutely fantastic! It looks really good on my antic board and it gives a feeling of taste and somehow brings back the "old times" when you look at it. Beautiful design!!!! Greetings to everyone from Helsinki, Finland :)

Attractive and functional enough, but a bit leaky --------

We simply love our fountain. It is aesthetically pleasing as well as functional. The fountain is a high quality appliance made of heavy, chromed plated brass. Everything fits and functions flawlessly. We display our fountain on a silver tray in our formal dining room. It never fails to draw favorable comments from our guests. We award five stars.
