Traditionally styled, cast brass and handmade glass. Read the whole description
We recommend rinsing your fountain before first using it, as there may be traces of powder left from the traditional metal-casting process.
Ice can be added to the water in the reservoir, to create the perfect temperature.
Rather than emptying the fountain straight after using it, it is recommended to leave it overnight, avoiding any small risk, however rare, of thermal shock to the glass parts.
Contrary to what one might assume, absinthe fountains actually arrived very late in its history, carafes having been used before. It is thought that they were introduced by the absinthe-makers Cusenier in 1886, trying to give absinthe a healthy image. Water quality was not known to be of high quality, and so the fountains also contained a filter to remove impurities in the water supply.
Antique fontains are normally found with four taps, and were decorated with a coquerel, a symbol of France; an acorn; or a stylised pineapple, a traditional decorative form. It is believed these symbols were used to make the fountains, and absinthe, more acceptable to women at the time.

Added on the : 23/08/2014Great fountain! Its the ultimate luxury in absinthe imbibing, so easy to get the perfect louche and sit back and watch while it happens. It was packed well and arrived safely, very well made! Fits together nicely, heavy and sturdy can get the water to drip REAL slow. Looks awesome when u fill it with ice/water and condensation occurs all over it.
Cheers

Added on the : 07/04/2014I bought this fountain for my boyfriends birthday. He was so pleased with the fountain as he had always wanted one after spending many years in France and really impressed by the design and quality of the item. It is not flimsy or unsteady and is beautifully crafted. I was also impressed by the fountain as it achieved all my expectations. It now stands proudly on the table with accessories. I would definitely recommend this fountain as a great gift.

Added on the : 09/01/2014This was a Christmas gift for my 22 year old son. A friend of mine called it the ultimate luxury item for a home bar. I can't disagree. My son was thrilled. The quality is excellent. Very sturdy. Packed very well. When we initially put it together and filled it there was a small leak. We took it apart, and put it back together making sure to tighten the base as much as possible, and voila, no more leak. Highly recommend.

Added on the : 18/04/2013Almost perfect. Very satisfied with the performance of the fountain. Looks amazing, and feels very durable. The only downside is that it's now almost too easy to enjoy the perfect drink.

Added on the : 17/04/2013Even though I already had a glass fountain, I fell in love with this one as soon as I saw it, specially when I read it was a reproduction of a vintage piece. I adore all things vintage, so it had to be mine.
Upon receiving it I was very happy to see it came very well protected, and everything was in great condition. It was very easy to assemble (it came in pieces), and it is absolutely gorgeous once put together.
I filled it with tap water to see how the robinettes worked, and to check if there were any leaks. No leaks at all, and the robinettes work beautifully; you can get tiny drops that you can see fall one by one, or a small current.
I still have not used it with my absinthe, as I am waiting for a special occasion, but I am very looking forward to it.
P.S. I love this fountain so much I made a replica in miniature for my 1:12 scale dollhouse. Definitely a conversation starter!
