Absinthe Nirvana is produced by Philippe Martin in Boveresse, the birthplace of absinthe.

Ever since Philippe took over the Valote Martin distillery from his father in 2014, he has continued family tradition by distilling absinthe in the clandestine style.

In creating Absinthe Nirvana, he shows off his immense talent as an absinthe distiller. The resulting absinthe is an especially creamy and soft blanche.

This absinthe is made of the best parts of the plants only, comprising the blossoms and the heads of the herbs. A great variety of aromatic plants used can be recognized from the taste. Most of the herbs have been cultivated in the Val-de-Travers, or even in the distillery's own garden. Among them are wormwood, lemon balm and hyssop.

Many distilleries prefer to distill quickly over gas. Martin uses another technique for his absinthe, including Absinthe Nirvana: a lavishly slow distillation process resulting in particularly aromatic absinthe.

A special absinthe with a refined taste!

Absinthe Nirvana won the large gold medal at the Concours Mondial de Bruxelles in 2016.

Tasting Notes:

Aroma: notes of butterscotch

Louche: very pleasant to watch; due to the great amount of essential oils (from the herbs), slightly milky, chalky traces are left on the inside of the glass, a sign that it is packed with botanicals.

Taste: well-balanced and creamier than most other absinthe.

Conclusion: a balanced absinthe with a great variety of aromatic herbs

La Valote Martin, Switzerland

The distillery of Philippe Martin is situated in Boveresse, in the Val-de-Travers, the birthplace of absinthe and today home to some of the finest absinthe distilleries.

Philippe Martin distills his absinthes in an old house known to locals as La Maison des Chats, a centuries-old building decorated with stone sculptures of cats. Right opposite is the distillery's own garden, where most of the herbs used for Philippe’s absinthe is cultivated.

Philippe took over the distillery from his father Francis Martin in 2014, who distilled for 33 years during the time of the absinthe ban in Switzerland. When absinthe was re-legalized in 2005, Francis received a licence to produce absinthe legally.
