The absinthe St. Antoine owes its name to its region of origin. Indeed, it is the translation of the name of a town near the place where it is produced.
- At first; savour your St. Antoine with half a piece of sugar. Then, add more or less according to your taste.
- For one measure of absinthe (3cl), add 2 to 5 measures of fresh water.
The Zufanek Distillery was founded in 2000. At first, the family focused on the production of honey and fruit based liqueurs. In 2008, Martin started to distill absinthe and the St. Antoine was the first one of this distillery. Shortly after the launch of St. Antoine, Martin created La Grenouille, and absinthe Mead Base.
What's special about this distillery is that all fruit used for the production of their spirits are cultivated on their own orchards. Most of the herbs used for the absinthes are also grown by the Zufanek family themselves.
Their mission is: 100% natural products.

Added on the : 20/10/2019 EnglishI've been tasting and drinking many absinthes for a while now. Few times have I been disappointed. Unfortunately, this is kind of one of those. First let me say that 3 stars doesn't equal bad. Actually 3 stars equals average. That perfectly describes this absinthe. I'm constantly looking for new favorites or absinthes that have something to offer, and this one didn't seem to do much. The taste is pretty basic, sadly with no stand-out flavors. It's good with or without sugar (I tried both ways). The one thing that it does have is an amazing louche. The color is also nice and the aromas are good. As I said before, just pretty basic. This would make a fine entry level drink for newbies, but experienced drinkers may find it unexciting.

Added on the : 17/12/2018 EnglishI absolutely love this absinthe. Great light green color. The smell is anise, fennel and wormwood. Just the right hint of bitterness that keeps it interesting. Will purchase again!

Added on the : 02/07/2018 EnglishThis was a Wonderful find and one of my new favorites. I tend to drink mine raw so the flavors were fluid and bold without being over powering. i tend to drink it in a bell glass to allow it to be more aromatic and this one really took to it.

Added on the : 31/05/2018 EnglishThis Absinthe is very unbalanced due to HUGE amount of fennel and small amount of anise. I like fennel much, but it is too strong here and not of the best variety. I don't drink St. Antoine, but use it to bake abinthe cake. Quality and color are very good. There are many "anise free" absinths in Czech Republic, maybe that's why Zufanek has reduced anise quantity and replaced it with more fennel. Other absinthes from Zufanek distillery like "La Grenouille" or "Justifiée & Ancienne" are brilliant ones and very good balanced.

Added on the : 27/02/2018 EnglishA very affordable and uniquely enjoyable absinthe. Thinner than most with a grassiness and mysterious spiciness that combine to make up a very refreshing and different style of absinthe. The craftsmanship displayed here has piqued my curiousty about sampling Zufanek's more high end and mead based offerings...

Added on the : 04/09/2017 EnglishI am relatively new to the absinthe scene, however, this knocked it out of the ballpark. One of the smoothest drinks I've ever had. Not only is it a fantastic absinthe but a top tier spirit overall. Would buy again!
