The absinthe St. Antoine from Martin Zufanek is based on a French recipe ; it is certainly one of the best Czech absinthes!

Every product used for its production is natural and it is not sweetened at the Zufanek distillery.
Its coloration comes only from plants, mainly petit wormwood, hyssop and Melissa.

That is the proof that there are some good absinthes in the Czech Republic!

This is the latest batch of Absinthe St. Antoine, bottled in a brown bottle to offer optimal protection from light.

Zufanek, Czech Republic

The Zufanek Distillery was founded in 2000. At first, the family focused on the production of honey and fruit based liqueurs. In 2008, Martin started to distill absinthe and the St. Antoine was the first one of this distillery. Shortly after the launch of St. Antoine, Martin created La Grenouille, and absinthe Mead Base.

What's special about this distillery is that all fruit used for the production of their spirits are cultivated on their own orchards. Most of the herbs used for the absinthes are also grown by the Zufanek family themselves.

Their mission is: 100% natural products.

A very affordable and uniquely enjoyable absinthe. Thinner than most with a grassiness and mysterious spiciness that combine to make up a very refreshing and different style of absinthe. The craftsmanship displayed here has piqued my curiousty about sampling Zufanek's more high end and mead based offerings...

I am relatively new to the absinthe scene, however, this knocked it out of the ballpark. One of the smoothest drinks I've ever had. Not only is it a fantastic absinthe but a top tier spirit overall. Would buy again!

First had this at the Black Angel Bar in Prague. What an amazing taste. Was told by their master mixologist St. Antoine is the best of the best... he was certainly right!

This basic (?) absinthe from Zufanek is one to be had more than once.
Basic but very good for a kind of standard or "must have" verte absinthe.

Yeah this a great Absinthe, love the sweet flavour that lurks, its not a creamy type of drop so if you like your Absinthe light and refreshing this one is for you. Has a fine vibe about it. Its one I will always want in my cabinet.

A refreshing absinthe that borrows the delicious candy-like freshness of the best German absinthes and gives it some grassy spiciness. Doesn't get exactly as far as those, but still a top-shelf treat.

I really like this inexpensive Absinthe, it just has the right balance in taste smell and color, definetly a winner, highly recomend it.

Another tasty absinthe from the Czech Republic. I prefer to have one part with 3.5 parts spring water, and plenty of ice. Cheers!!
