Absinthe Valkyria - the first Swedish distilled absinthe - follows the greatest of absinthe traditions: only quality herbs and a distillation achieved with a great deal of love, care and attention. The original Swedish Absinthe Valkyria means Sweden has an absinthe to be proud of.

Here is what our friend and absinthe reviewer Markus Hartsmar from Absinthe.se says about it:

"The Valkyria is a well made product, no doubt about it and it is as authentic as they come and I have high hopes and future expectations for it."

Absinthe Valkyria comes in a slender and elegant dark green bottle, to protect the precious, naturally green absinthe within.

Valkyria was awarded a Master medal at The Spirits Business' Absinthe Masters 2013 in the UK.

Valkyria, Sweden

Makers of the first Swedish absinthe! The Valkyria Distillery is a youthful distillery. Starting out in 2011 in a disused church and going by the name 'Sankta Annas Bränneri', this is a true absinthe micro-distillery, with distillation, bottling and almost everything being carried out by owner Henrik Larsson. A lot of love goes into these spirits.

Absinthe Valkyria was the first legal Swedish absinthe, and since it has been launched has gained lots of fans, and been awarded a respectable number of medals in international spirits contests.

The distilleries other absinthes are also unique: Absinthe WOLF, light on anise, still very drinkable indeed. A collaboration with the heavy metal band of the same name. And Midvinterblot, an amber absinthe, with cinnamon and Swedish winter spices - unique!

Very nice absinthe. Many pleasant flavors. Nice cloudy louche that appears beautifully using a slow drip. Wonderful to watch. Nice oil layer on top when finished! Healthy wormwood taste when finished, which doesn't linger too long. Great with or without sugar. Would recommend to both new and experienced drinkers.

Distinctive initial herbal flavors, then a final palatable smoothness as it goes down. As one who enjoys the complexity of differing absinthes on ice shavings, this is one that of the few that can stand alone without sugar or sweetners!

It is good but will be much better if star anise reduced.

Sorry to say that, but I am not impressed at all :( Absinthe is overloaded with badiane, it is heavy and thick. I miss all the floral beauty of thec classic France/Swiss absinthes. But I guess there are drinkers who could enjoy it, but definitely not me.

Wow!
This was a surprise. The header description is right, a world-class absinthe! (to me anyway)
Aroma is not as punchy as some.
Taste and Mouthfeel are smooth/mellow.
Aftertaste on the roof of the mouth reminiscent of black strap licorice.

I always want this part of my permanent stock!
