A unique absinthe – colored using lemon verbena. Read the whole description
Awen Nature is the first organic distillery in the French Celtic region of Brittany, producing high quality spirits according to traditional methods. These are the same methods that were used before the absinthe ban in 1915.
All of the herbs come from 100% organic farming. They are macerated in organic grain spirit for 2 days and then distilled. There are no artificial colors or preservatives added.
In the small town Chevaigné in Brittany, France, the Awen Nature distillery produces high quality organic spirits. Britanny boasts a rich Franco-Celtic tradition and outstanding natural beauty.
The distiller Julien Fanny has been fascinated by plants and their properties ever since he was a child. He got this passion from his aunt who produced a lot of plant-based products during his childhood. The passion for plants and his spirit of discovery for aromas and new taste experiences led him to establish the Awen Nature distillery in 2013.
Julien produces 4 organic absinthes (Rouge, Verte, Safran and Finn Blanche) and other plant-based spirits, such as the Verbena spirit. Tradition and sustainability are 2 very important aspects for him, since all of his spirits are certified organic and are produced according to traditional recipes. The herbs come from organic farming and most of them even from Brittany.
Environmental protection plays an important role too. Julien uses recyclable materials and an environmentally friendly packaging. He even delivers his spirits by himself by bicycle to customers in Rennes, the nearest larger town.
The labels of all of the bottles were designed by the artist Gwladys Rose and they all depict scenes from Celtic legend. The inspiration for them has been taken from traditions of Brittany since this region was settled by the Celts in the 6th century BC.
Another characteristic of Awen Nature is the financing trough crowdfunding. This allowed Julien to purchase the copper stills and the first plants.
Enjoy the Awen Nature Verte with 1 to 2 parts of cold water, added to one measure of absinthe. You can add sugar, according to your taste. Due to its low alcohol content, we recommend to drink this absinthe with less water than usual.
You can also enjoy this absinthe with 3 parts of the organic verbena spirit for a more intense verbena experience.
