Description of the products

La Maison Fontaine Verte is masterfully refined using an array of natural herbs including the world-renowned Pontarlier-grown Grande Absinthe. In combination with the natural herbal coloration this creates a classic floral Verte with rich herbal and peppery notes.

Connoisseurs believe that the perfect serve is to drip 3 measures of chilled water from an absinthe fountain over 1 measure of Fontaine Verte. This creates a stimulating, refreshing drink with a vintage green louche. Some prefer a more intense flavour and sip it neat or pour it over ice.

Fontaine Verte is also a wonderfully versatile spirit that can be mixed into an array of sublime cocktails.
La Maison Fontaine is an ultra premium absinthe, handcrafted amongst the beautiful Jura Mountains in Pontarlier.

When you discover the absinthe capital of the world, Pontarlier (France), has 200 years of Absinthe heritage and the world's oldest absinthe stills, there's only one thing to do – handcraft a new ultra premium Absinthe.

La Maison Fontaine has been masterfully refined using 15 natural herbs. Some are kept secret, others we're happy to shout about – notably, the world-renowned Pontarlier-grown Grande Absinthe, which together with green anise and fennel is the “holy trinity” of any real Absinthe.

An exceptional traditional Absinthe, a stimulating and refreshing drink.

Colour: Clear.

Louche: Cloud-white with some blue tints. The louche is beautiful to watch as it forms, neither too quickly, nor too slow.

Aroma: Beautiful green anise and the distinctive flowery smell of Pontarlier wormwood, like an alpine meadow in spring.

Taste: Sweet and refreshing green anise, intense wormwood and rich fennel, the holy trinity in perfect harmony. Notes of lemon and peppermint in the background, along with other tasty herbals and florals.

Finish: Velvety and smooth, wonderful, the finish follows the aroma and taste.

Don't miss out on the opportunity to discover this very special absinthe today!

Inspired by a hand-written recipe for Creme de Cacao in the Distillery's recipe book dating back to the 1920's, La Maison Fontaine Chocolat has been masterfully refined using a combination of Pontarlier-grown Grande Absinthe and the finest chocolate infusion.

Sweet richness, combined with apparent notes of absinthe and chocolate create a unique soft liqueur. Fontaine Chocolat is the perfect after dinner drink to enjoy neat or poured over ice.

Fontaine Chocolat is also a wonderfully versatile liqueur that can be mixed into an array of sublime cocktails.

Emile Pernot, France

1899 :

the young Emile-Ferdinand Pernot, a native of the Fougerolles region, where he had trained as a distiller, joins the Parrot brothers and together they establish “Emile Pernot et Cie” located in Pontarlier. Emile-Ferdinand's son, Emile-Joseph (don't worry, none of their sons were called Emile-Emile even though they loved this first name), a survivor of the World War I trenches, later registers the famous name “Emile Pernot”.

2009 :

The distillery moves from the center of Pontarlier to the magnificent old Cousin Jeune building in La Cluse et Mijoux, at the foot of the Château de Joux, the very same building where the young Emile-Joseph Pernot learnt his trade a century earlier. And you know what? It was a pure coincidence – the building had been a post office and a fire station in the intervening years!

Absinthe distillation at Emile Pernot :

The two century-old copper alembics used by Emile Pernot for their absinthe distillations were made by the famous firm of Egrot in the early 1900s. They were especially designed and built for absinthe distillation, and they are the only stills of their kind in operation anywhere in the world. These stills allow the Pernot distillery to produce absinthes of exceptional quality according to methods unchanged for a century.

Nice gift set especially for novices. The La Maison collection was delicious. The Verte was nice and had a classic taste to it. I used two small sugar cubes with ice cold water and the result was super refreshing! I think the sugar actually did enhance the flavor very well. The Blanche was light and refreshing also. Not overly complex. Again, great for novices who are getting to know absinthe for the first time. Longtime drinkers may enjoy their mild, classic taste. Unfortunately I can't comment on the Chocolat as it was broken during shipment! Guess I'll have to grab a bottle later. Four stars because while the absinthes were very pleasing, I couldn't really find a unique characteristic to put them over the top.

This was Fabulous ! I'm new to the world of Absinthe & this was my first time trying it. I ordered Maison Fountain sample set. I only tried the original green, it was wonderful ! I dripped ice water over a sugar cube and the louche was cloudy green. It was so sweet and smoothe & I love the anise flavor ! It was delicious and like nothing I ever tasted ! Now I did a half serving, 1 oz. Absinthe & 2 oz. Ice water. It was perfect ! I'm glad I halfed the recipe because it is a strong liquor. It was wonderful & I can't wait to try the Blance & chocolate I fused absinthe !!!
