Mahogany red Spanish vermouth, barrel aged in oak for 1 year. With intense notes of ripe fruit and herbs, accompanied by vanilla and cardamom. Balanced acidity with a lightly bitter aftertaste.

The recipe is based on one of Yzaguirre's recipes dating back to the 19th century.

Yzaguirre Vermouth Rojo Reserva has been awarded the title of "Best Vermouth of Catalonia".

Tasting notes from Andrew White:

"Bittersweet. Like the bitterness of a heavily roasted coffee. Thick and satisfying.

Roasted nuts. Sour. Nutmeg. Chocolate and Pepper. Vanilla. Burnt toffee apple. Chicory.

Harmonious. Feels like it has fewer herbs than the Blanco Reserva White Vermouth or Rosé Vermouth from Yzaguirre. Delicious."

A great house red vermouth. Perfect with ice, a chunk of orange and a couple of green olives.

This vermouth, served cold on the rocks with a thick slice of orange makes a perfect before or after dinner drink.

Yzaguirre makes a solid Negroni and/or Americano. The deep flavours balance well with the sweetness. On the other hand, Yzaguirre wil ruin any Manhattan so use wisely.

Yzaquirre Reserva Rojo is by far one of the best vermouths in the market. With a slice of orange and a couple of olives it makes for a great aperitif.

This vermouth is not one of the best I have tried, but it is pretty enjoyable.
By most vermouth makers the red versions are better than white ones. The Yzaguirre is not an exception. Due to red wine and some additional herbs it tastes more balanced and finer than blanco.
