Alte Apotheke – For Absinthe Fans, and Fine Spirits Lovers
The surroundings are ideal: we‘ve taken over the premises of the old Stühlinger Pharmacy, where we‘d been admiring the original interior for years, with its impressive shelving, glass service counter and wooden-panelled walls with integrated old-fashioned clocks. So when we heard that the pharmacy was closing its doors after 116 years providing medicine to the citizens of Freiburg, we saw the perfect opportunity to open an absinthe shop.
Events & Spirits Tastings:
You can book individual group tastings from 8 people and can choose from the following: Absinthe Tastings, Whisky Tastings, Gin Tastings or Rum Tastings. To book a private tasting session, do get in touch with us via firstname.lastname@example.org! Apart from that, we offer a broad variety of tastings collaborating with distillers or brand ambassadors of different brands:
Every Friday: “L’Heure Verte – the green hour” Absinthe & Gin drop-in tasting, 5€, from 5pm. 10% discount on all bottles of the night’s selection.

Alte Apotheke is about more than just selling spirits, it’s about learning and experiencing something new: We offer regular absinthe tastings for beginners and for experienced absinthe drinkers. For larger groups, we accept bookings for private tasting events. Get to know the taste of absinthe, the traditional absinthe ritual, and learn about the history of absinthe and how it is made. Our expert staff are happy to share their knowledge.
