This wine takes its name from the traditional method of production, a procedure involving laying the grapes out on a 'straw bed' to dry them out. A vin de paille is produced using exclusively the most beautiful grapes, which have been set aside the day before the harvest. They are then hung out to dry for three or four months before being used in the wine-making process. A liqueur-like wine is a result of this process that compliments desserts and also appetizers wonderfully. We recommend opening the bottle of wine a few hours before consumption and drinking it at a temperature between 13 and 15° Celsius. In 1957, a very late frost caused many wine producers a lot of pain and made it difficult for them to balance their accounts: many vine branches were frozen off and the volume of the harvest was quite disappointing. That served to make this quality wine even more rare than it already would have been.
